Jaws of Life

DOCUMENTARY

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Jun 1, 2006

The influence of Jawbreaker on modern punk and emo can’t be understated. The band’s break-up ten years ago was a shame, following their poorly-received Geffen debut, Dear You, only recently elevated to the classic status by fans who initially rejected its more polished sound. As the band’s popularity continues unabated, Adam Metz, a solo musician who has worked with Neutral Milk Hotel and Toe, has produced a three-part audio documentary on the band for dailysonic.com, clocking in at just under an hour and covering all aspects of the band’s creation and eventual dissolution. Filled with music, band interviews, and some rather twee personal observations, the doc paints a vivid picture of a vital band, offering something for long-time fans and those only just being inducted into the world of Jawbreaker.
