Earlier this week, we learned of the tragic passing of indie-folk favourite Jason Molina, following a long bout with alcoholism. Many have no doubt been reminiscing about the musician by listening to his many, many records released under his own name, as Songs: Ohia or with Magnolia Electric Co. If you're unfamiliar with any area of the late singer-songwriter's prolific career, you can take solace in a massive discography stream for a limited time.
The Magnolia Electric Co. site has posted records from Molina's debut Songs: Ohia 7-inch "Nor Cease Thou Never Now…" up to last fall's solo EP Autumn Bird Songs, and seemingly everything in between. Also available to stream is a 22-track rarities set that includes Magnolia demos, live solo tracks, and an alternate take of Songs: Ohia's "The Lioness," among other treats.
There's seriously so much amazing music to check out that it's hard to pinpoint just where to begin, but we're going to start you off with a sample of Molina sadly and sweetly singing about how he came to earn the "Northstar Blues."
