Now that LCD Soundsystem are a thing of the past, leader James Murphy has time to take on other projects, including directing a short film for Canon's Project Imaginat10n in collaboration with Ron Howard. Now, we've learned some of the details of that upcoming celluloid excursion.
Pitchfork notes that Murphy's film is called Little Duck. It tells the story of "a young man pulled from his life in Manhattan back to his home in rural Japan when his estranged brother runs into trouble." Shooting is taking place in Japan and New York with lead actor Kaneko Nobuaki.
Like all Project Imaginat10n films, Little Duck was inspired by 10 crowd-sourced photographs. You can see Murphy's images — which include a snowy country road, a kid in a gas mask and a fishing boat — over at Canon's website.
Watch Murphy explain his photo choices in the video below. Look for the film to premiere this fall at Canon's Project Imaginat10n Film Festival.
