Jadea Kelly

'Love & Lust' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 26, 2016

Singer-songwriter Jadea Kelly splits her time between Nashville and Toronto, but that hasn't stopped the bi-municipal performer from crafting distinct, cohesive new album. Titled Love & Lust, the record doesn't officially arrive until next week, but you can give it an early listen right now.

The 11-track set showcases Kelly's knack for weaving the most universal human feelings into totally singular songs. The album was co-produced by Stew Crookes, Tom Juhas and Kelly herself, captured live off the floor and directly to tape. It marks her third full-length solo effort and hears the artist exploring experiences that range from heartbreak, infidelity and betrayal to desire, forgiveness and human frailty.

From opener "Make It Easy," through soft, affecting songs like "Can't Outrun" and "Ocean Floor," and onto the poignant closing track "Beauty," Kelly wears her heart on her sleeve.

"Love & Lust is my Jagged Little Pill," she tells Exclaim! "An uncensored and painfully honest break up album."

Let the melodic melancholy wash over you by hitting play below.

Love & Lust is due out on June 3 through Darth Jadea Music/Fontana North.
