Evidently, being in one of the indie music world's most celebrated groups isn't enough to satisfy the members of Fleet Foxes. Not only has drummer J. Tillman just quit the band, but Foxes members Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott just signed to Sub Pop with their side-project Poor Moon.
Tillman announced his departure in a post written yesterday (January 18) on Tumblr. He wrote, "Farewell Fleet Fans and Friends. Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go. Tokyo is my last show with the Foxes. Sorry if I was distant and obtuse if we ever met. Have fun."
The Tokyo show takes place tomorrow night (January 20), and after that, it's goodbye J. Tillman. He didn't explain his reasons for quitting, but it could be to focus on his solo career. He has released a string of albums of in recent years.
As for Poor Moon, they will release their Illusion EP on March 27 through Sub Pop. Download the sun-kissed pop rock tune "People in Her Mind" in exchange for an email address at the bottom of this page. Check out their tour dates with Lost in the Trees below.
