With his long, flowing hair, Dinosaur Jr. frontman (and solo acoustic troubadour) J Mascis has an appearance that's perfectly suited to headbanging. But what about head-bobbling? Well, soon you can find out, since the iconic guitarist just got his very own bobblehead doll.
Made by Aggronautix, this figure will be shipping in April and is limited to 1,000 units. It's seven inches tall and is made of lightweight polyresin. The best part? Unlike the plastic hair usually favoured by bobblehead dolls, this actually has its own mini-wig. The toy-maker writes in a product description, "J is accurately sculpted right down to the big ole glasses, rockin' riff grip, and signature silver mane that features REAL DOLL HAIR."
You can pre-order one here for around $20. It's worth noting that that Aggronautix makes some other pretty amazing bobbleheads including Andrew W.K., Joey Shithead of D.O.A., members of the Ramones and Roky Erickson of the 13th Floor Elevators.
In related news, Dinosaur Jr. will release the concert film Bug Live At 9:30 Club: In the Hands of the Fans on February 21 via MVD Visual. Filmed in June of last year, this captures one of the band's performance of their 1988 album Bug. You can pre-order a copy from Amazon on DVD or Blu-ray.
