A number of J Dilla rarities have been collected for public release these past few years with The Diary and Dillatronic, but the next collection of tracks from the Dilla vault will have a more personal touch, having been chosen by his mother.
Titled Motor City, the forthcoming collection of instrumentals was put together by Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancey, who oversaw everything from hand-selecting the tracks to sequencing them.
The collection will feature 19 instrumentals, in addition to a bonus disc containing an exclusive mix of the LP by Dilla's close friend and collaborator J Rocc.
While a concrete tracklist has yet to be presented, a pre-order description reveals that Motor City was "conceived as a 'letter' to her son" and will come "packaged in a limited-edition mailing envelope, complete with a handwritten message from Ma Dukes to J Dilla inside."
