J. Cole Visits Protestors in Ferguson

BY Josiah HughesPublished Aug 18, 2014

Earlier this month, on August 9, an unarmed black teen was shot at least six times and killed by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, MO. The event has caused a long string of protests that continue today. Rapper J. Cole responded to the event by releasing a new single, "Be Free," last week. Over the weekend, he went a step further and visited the protests in the small town of Ferguson.

Cole didn't announce his plans to visit Ferguson, nor did he appear to be documenting the visit in any way. That said, his appearance in Ferguson was well documented across social media.

According to AllHipHop, one fan asked Cole if she could take a picture with him. As shown in the YouTube video below, he said, "I'm not here for that, but I'll give you a hug."

Check out some photos of J. Cole visiting Ferguson below, along with a stream of "Be Free."
