J. Cole released Friday Night Lights last year, which, despite being billed as a mixtape, was essentially an album released for free on the internet. Now, the up-and-coming rapper has finally confirmed his first official album LP.
In a pair of tweets posted yesterday (June 21), he unveiled the title and release date for the forthcoming collection. The messages read simply "Cole World: The Sideline Story" and "9/27."
So there you have it. Cole World: The Sideline Story will be on shelves September 27. The album will come out through Roc Nation/Sony.
Back in May, Cole tweeted, "All singles done. Album ridiculous. Title Perfect. Music incredible. Thank you for your patience. Let's change the game." So we're guessing that means he's pretty confident in the product.
Rap-Up reports that Cole will share production duties with No I.D., Danjahandz, and Brian Kidd. The album will also reportedly feature a collaboration with Jay-Z.
