Frontrunners in the genre of baseball-themed punk, Vancouver band Isotopes hit a homerun with their debut full-length offering Nuclear Strikezone. Now they've unveiled a brand new video for album cut "Total Juicehead," and Exclaim! has got the premiere.
The new record features members of visiting teams like Vlad Zak of the Real McKenzies and Blag Dahlia of the Dwarves, and offers up an onslaught of straight-up punk rock. As a recent press release puts it: "Speed: check. Guts: check. Steroids, chicks, God shout-outs, Espanol: check, check, check, check."
"Total Juicehead" fits right in, eschewing calisthenics and vegetables in favour of a time-honoured baseball classic — steroids. The video itself reveals the band's training regimen of downing popcorn and beer, sprinting away from a man dressed as a syringe, and of course, playing live music. It might be an unconventional routine, but it nevertheless seems to be whipping them into fine form.
Nuclear Strikezone is out now via Stomp Records. The band will be taking the new tunes on the road this spring with the Real McKenzies, and you can see those upcoming dates below. Scroll past those to check out the video for "Total Juicehead."
