Who Killed Harry Houdini?

Who Killed Harry Houdini?

The two important things to know about I'm From Barcelona are they aren't from Barcelona at all (they're actually from Jönköping, Sweden) and that they currently have 29 members. This translates into a twee version of the Polyphonic Spree, although their relentless cuteness was something people either loved or hated. They seem to have taken that criticism to heart because their second album, Who Killed Harry Houdini?, tempers all the things that made the band unique. But with the playfulness stripped away, I'm From Barcelona sound an awful lot like many other bands and they underplay their unique strengths. And it certainly doesn't sound like the collective force of close to 30 people united in indie pop. Yet with their more earnest songs, it turns out there is more depth to I'm From Barcelona than anyone might have expected, which suggests if they can find the right balance, they might be able to make a much better record.
