Illa J has a lot more to his name aside from being little brother of the late J Dilla. The Detroit-based artist has kept busy as a current member of Slum Village as well as the Yancey Boys duo, but later this year he'll return to solo work with a new album. Today, we get our first taste of the release with a new song called "Strippers."
The track's a celebration of exotic dancers, with Illa J delivering some sexed-up lyrics for the ladies atop a slapping beat. And while the production sounds like vintage west coast G-funk, it actually arrives via Canada, with Montreal/Vancouver duo Potatohead People working alongside Montreal's Kaytranada. Those three deserve daps, since the beat is the best part of the track.
Listen to Illa J's "Strippers" below. The performer will release a self-titled solo album later this year via Bastard Jazz.
