Iggy Pop and the Stooges Give Film-Savvy Fans a Chance to Get Up Close and Personal

If you're an Iggy Pop fan with a penchant for filmmaking, listen up: Iggy and the Stooges have launched a contest allowing fans a chance to film the band's September 3 performance of 1973's Raw Power at All Tomorrow's Parties. After the show, the contest winners will then interview Iggy and the band.

The project is called In the Hands of the Fans and is open to anyone who has access to an HD video camera. If you want to be eligible for the contest, just film an HD clip of yourself asking the band about Raw Power. Then upload the clip to YouTube and submit it here.

If you're selected as one of the best six clips, you will then receive access to the band's performance at All Tomorrow's Parties (note: the show takes place at the Stardust Theater in Monticello, NY, and you have to arrange your own transportation and lodgings). The winners will join director Joey Carey in filming the show.

In addition to filming the concert and the interview, fans are encouraged to film their journey to the concert, as well as their departure. All of the footage will then be compiled into a feature-length movie that's part concert film, part fan documentary.

In the Hands of the Fans will be released on DVD, BluRay, digital download and other formats in early 2011 via MVD Entertainment Group. This will be first in a planned series of releases, with future instalments of In the Hands of the Fans featuring different bands, which are expected to be announced soon.
