Iggy Pop

'Post Pop Depression' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 10, 2016

Punk icon Iggy Pop has assembled an all-star team of musicians for his latest offering Post Pop Depression, and you can now hear the collaborative results in their entirety.

The new band brings together Josh Homme, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age and the Dead Weather, and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders, and they've already teased us with new material like "Gardenia," "Break Into Your Heart" and "Sunday."

"What happens after your years of service? And where is the honour?" Pop previously said, explaining the themes in the new material. "In American life, because it's so hypercompetitive, what happens when you're finally useless to everyone except hopefully not yourself? What happens then? And can you continue to be of use to yourself? I had a kind of character in mind. It was sort of a cross between myself and a military veteran."

Now, you can meet that character and follow him on his musical journey by giving the record an early listen. Post Pop Depression is officially out on March 8 through Loma Vista, but you can give it an advanced stream in the player below courtesy of the folks at NPR. You can also find the band's upcoming North American tour dates here.
