Canadian folk icon Ian Tyson has cancelled a forthcoming live date alongside Corb Lund due to "an unexpected and serious medical situation."

As the CBC reports, Tyson made the announcement in an email to ticketholders for the forthcoming August 25 performance at the Badlands Amphitheatre in Drumheller, AB.

"I'm having some heart problems and the doctors are looking after me. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and see you soon," Tyson wrote in the email.

The CBC notes that Lund will still perform without Tyson, writing in a statement, "I'm disappointed that Ian and I won't be able to share the stage at such an amazing venue so close to where we both call home."

Tyson, 84, is best known as one half of the duo Ian & Sylvia. He is a member of the Order of Canada, the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and the Alberta Order of Excellence.
