Hiss Golden Messenger, the folk project of North Carolina singer-songwriter M.C. Taylor, has built a solid fan base and sturdy discography over the last seven years. He'll continue to do that on a larger level thanks to a new deal with Merge Records.

The venerable indie imprint has joined forces with Hiss Golden Messenger, and plan to release a new album from the project this September.

The record is called Lateness of Dancers, and it includes guest appearances from Megafaun, Brad and Phil Cook, William Tyler, Terry Lonergan, Bon Iver's Matt McCaughan, Mountain Man's Alexandra Sauser-Monnig and frequent collaborator Scott Hirsch.
