Hiroshi Yoshimura's GREEN stands as one of the most sought-after — and rare — Japanese ambient albums. But at long last, his 1986 effort is getting a reissue.
Light in the Attic has announced Green will be reissued this summer on June 26 on vinyl, CD, cassette and digitally. Original vinyl copies go for well over $1,000 on resale sites such as Discogs.
As Yoshimura explains in the album's liner notes, the record is meant to convey "the comfortable scenery of the natural cycle known as GREEN."
LITA adds, "GREEN is a timeless body of work whose calming sounds feel more relevant today than ever, especially in light of the fears and uncertainties we face during these unprecedented times."
This marks the first reissue of the album in any format, with this edition featuring the original mix of the album that Yoshimura preferred (this mix was featured on the initial Japanese vinyl release).
The reissue also comes in conjunction with WATER COPY, a new imprint launched in a collaboration with Yoshimura's estate focusing on the works of Hiroshi Yoshimura.
