Ottawa baroque-folk singer-songwriter Gabrielle Giguere crafts songs under the moniker Her Harbour, and her latest album Go Gently into the Night is out next week. Ahead of the official release, though, Exclaim! is giving you a chance to hear the record in its entirety.
The LP offers up eight songs that are darkly dreamy, relying primarily on sparse, piano-driven instrumentation and echoing, arresting vocals that demand the attention of any passing ear.
The result is a collection of slow, sombre and often melancholic numbers that weave together to tell a story of Giguere's growing relationship with death.
"Go Gently into the Night is about cycles," she tells Exclaim! "I wrote the songs at a time where death felt omnipresent. This album has been my attempt at making peace with death as a character of growing importance in my life."
Go Gently into the Night arrives on February 3 through E-Tron Records. Get an early listen to it in the player below right now.
