Toronto's hip-hop community was rocked by the shooting death of rapper Smoke Dawg this past summer, and a posthumous full-length from the MC has now been released.
Titled Struggle Before Glory, the 13-track effort can be heard in the players below. The album, which Smoke Dawg had been at work on prior to his passing, features contributions from Giggs, Puffy L'z, Fredo, Jay Critch, AJ Tracey, Jimmy Prime, Jay Whiss, SAFE and Smoke Dawg's younger brother, Young Smoke.
Production on the album comes courtesy of Murda Beatz, Keanu, Londoncyr, Habib, AmirJamm, Pro Logic, Lavish and Sticks. The album's artwork (seen above) was created by Corbin Urguhart and pictures Smoke Dawg watching over his Regent Park neighbourhood.
As previously reported, Smoke Dawg and Koba Prime (a.k.a. Kosi Modekwe) of Toronto's Prime collective were shot and killed in Toronto's entertainment district on June 30.
Both Smoke Dawg's Halal Gang rap collective and Modekwe's Prime collective would perform and release music together as Full Circle.
