Haymarket Riot is a relatively a good example of the intelligent punk scene that inhibits the Chicago, IL region. Their first self-titled EP stays more on the finite end of mathematical structures instead of calculus, with its thin high-register guitar melodies and relatively simple beats. Its stripped-down successor EP, Wax!, sees them abandoning the aforementioned sound and utilising more of a punk attitude. Instead of the guitar shrilling, the interlocking kick drum and bass guitar become the culprits in this rambunctiously swift attack upon the ears.
