In our annual Hangout Handbook, Exclaim! asks some of our favourite artists to discuss their favourite hometown haunts. Here, The Motorleague's singer and guitarist Don Levandier outlines his picks for Moncton.

Enjoy the View
To properly experience what Moncton is all about, we're going out of town to the Shediac Park Market (378 Main St.) and grab sweet potato empanadas.  Then we'll head even more east to Cape Jourimain to watch the sun come up underneath the Confederation Bridge. You can see P.E.I. from the lookout point and seeing the sunrise through the daunting size of the bridge is something you can't get anywhere else.

Pull of Tourism
Magnetic Hill is a tourist destination that is sort of a joke to locals. It's an optical illusion that makes you believe your vehicle is being pulled up a hill by a giant magnet. It's not. There's tons of sarcastic fun to be had here.

Brick Oven Poutine
All the food at the Pump House Brewery (5 Orange Ln.) is cooked in a brick oven, They have a dish called Mess'd Up Poutine: fries, cheese, pulled pork and gravy. Ask for a side of their blueberry BBQ sauce and dump that on. It will be a lot to deal with, but you'll crave it weeks later.

We Can Find Heroes
Spin-It Records (467 Main St.) and the Comic Hunter are in the same building. Spin-It is filled with pinball machines, air hockey, standup arcade games and tons of vinyl gems. If you need that rare Kenner Luke Skywalker on Bespin, this is where you'll find it.

Fresh is Fresh
The Tide & Boar Gastropub (700 Main St.) boasts some of the best seafood and boarmeat in the city. (If boarmeat isn't one word, it should be.) The parm-crusted North Atlantic haddock is what you want: it was probably caught while we were watching the sun come up.

Batting Cleanup
The Laudromat (382 St. George St.) is the hippest, smallest and coolest bar in the city. The dark secret hideaway is perfect spot to put your feet up on one of the couches. They've got Battleship with most of the pieces still intact and by far the most eclectic drink menu in the city.
