Gregor Samsa Prep New Multi-Formatted Album

Virginia minimalist/shoegaze artists Gregor Samsa have undergone a series of releases for their multi-formatted new album, Rest. The band first announced at the end of March that their third full-length album would be released in four different formats, which included a regular unlimited edition (due May 13), and a hand-numbered, limited release of 500 which would include an eight-page book of artwork and lyrics. The final CD release is a collector's edition (limited to only 30 copies), which will ship in a Super 8 film canister and contain the elements of the limited release as well as a section from one of several films that Gregor Samsa have reportedly produced in anticipation of the release of Rest.

Digital copies of the album have been available since the beginning of April and the band have been adding tracks from the album to their MySpace on a weekly basis since the New Year. Obviously feeling that we were given insubstantial options by which to obtain the album, the band decided in mid-April to release Rest on 2xLP vinyl (140 gram limited edition of 500 in the U.S.) through Kora Records in North America and Own Records in Europe. In addition, the band have posted the new video for the song "Jeroen van Aken," directed by JagJaguwar artist Rick Alverson (Drunk, Spokane).

In support of Rest, Gregora Samsa will be touring through Europe throughout the month of May and into June, stopping in Germany, Italy, France and a few other countries.
