Greg Dulli Goes Solo for 2016 Tour, Covers Sharon Van Etten

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 19, 2015

In 2014, Cincinnati alt-rockers the Afghan Whigs had a busy year in which they released the comeback album Do to the Beast and reissued their 1993 LP Gentleman (as Gentleman at 21), and their promotional efforts have spilled over into this year. Come 2016, however, frontman Greg Dulli will be turning his attention to a solo tour.

In February, Dulli will travel through Europe for a run of shows with opener Manuel Agnelli. Then, in March and April, he will return to North America and tour with opener Derrick Brown. The North American run includes plenty of U.S. shows, plus Canadian stops in Toronto and Vancouver. See the full schedule below.

The gigs are billed as "An Evening with Greg Dulli." They will feature Dulli joined by what a press release calls a "stripped-down band" performing selections from throughout the songwriter's career (which had included albums with the Twilight Singers and the Mark Lanegan collaboration the Gutter Twins). Dulli will also be premiering some new material.

To celebrate this tour announcement, Dulli covered Sharon Van Etten's "A Crime." His version features vocals from Ani DiFranco and can be heard via the widget at the bottom of the page.
