Out of nowhere, indie-rock heroes Grandaddy have returned with a new song. It's called "RIP Coyote Condo #5," and you can hear the seriously epic — not to mention sad — track now.
The song is almost a whole eight minutes, and in a video message on Facebook, frontman Jason Lytle explained that it's "kind of like a big epic," adding, "It was really hard to work on, but I think it turned out pretty good."
"RIP Coyote Condo #5" marks the first entirely new Grandaddy material since 2017's The Last Place, as well as the first since the death of bassist Kevin Garcia in 2017. Grandaddy did emerge with "Bison on the Plains" in 2018, but that was an older Grandaddy work that Lytle unearthed and finally finished.
At this point, it's unclear if "RIP Coyote Condo #5" will be part of a new Grandaddy album, but keep those fingers crossed.
