Coming in at seven songs apiece, these two Florida bands rival some of the better pop punk acts that the Bay Area has unleashed in the past. And after Hot Water Music put Gainesville on the map, you can expect bands like these to bring the town even more attention. First up are the Grabass Charlestons, featuring the gruff-voiced Will Thomas of street punkers the Beltones. They have the raw, pop-tinged punk sound that a band like Crimpshrine did so well down pat. Billy Reese Peters sounds like early Hot Water Music, if they were more influenced by the Clash instead of Fugazi. The songs are repeated twice for some reason, so you get a whole lot of Gainesville on this disc.
