In 2008, experimental metalcore trio Genghis Tron released their classic album Board Up the House. The album saw them expanding further into electronics while retaining their heavy backbone. The release was followed by an impressive remix series that spilled into the start of 2009. Since then, though, the band haven't released a thing. Now, they've announced that they're taking a lengthy break.
On Friday (October 15), the band confirmed that they're on a hiatus with the following statement on their MySpace blog:
Things have been pretty quiet for Genghis Tron recently, which has led some folks to ask us if we're breaking up. Well, we definitely aren't breaking up, but we have decided to take some time away from the band.
It will be a while before we release another record - and probably even longer before we play shows. However, this was the best thing we could do to make sure that GT keeps writing some real toe-tappers. Whenever we come back, it will probably be pretty weird and really good.
This announcement is contrary to a MySpace post from June, which said that the band were "currently writing for the follow-up album to Board Up the House. Perhaps they're just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up with their progressive tendencies before they drop another opus.
