From hipster game designer CliffyB comes this Halo-killer, a blockbuster sci-fi third-person shooter starring the burly and soon-to-be iconic soldier Marcus Fenix. Abandoning the overused first-person perspective better allows you to both take in the mesmerising and gritty graphics and take cover when battling the evil Locust Horde, insect-like aliens who emerged from under ground one day to take over your now decimated planet. The relatively short single-player mode offers a tense and gripping war story while multiplayer will give Gears longer legs as eight players gleefully attack each other with the game's trademark weapon – an assault rifle equipped with a frakkin' chainsaw.
