Let It Go

BY Stuart GreenPublished Jul 1, 2000

Given that their previous record, At the End of the Day, was so damn good, it was obvious these Houston-based King's X disciples faced a real challenge in trying to best or even just match the quality of that release. With Let it Go, the band's sixth and final full-length release, they've come pretty close. The loss of band co-founder/drummer Alan Doss, and the decision to hand more of the vocal responsibilities to bassist Monty Colvin, have taken the band away from its hard rock roots into a poppier, more melodic and Beatles-like direction. Not that that's entirely bad, but these guys have always been best when they let loose and rock out like they do on "Mr. Disney" and "T.I.M."
