Practically anyone who was a kid in the '80s and '90s has boxes full of trading cards sitting in storage that they will never be able to sell. Now, everyone will be able to add to their long-dormant collections thanks to !K7. The electronic label has made a set of DJ trading cards to help celebrate the 50th instalment of its iconic DJ-Kicks mixtape series.
These cards feature artists who have made their own DJ-Kicks mixes. Naturally, this includes DJ Koze, who curated the recent 50th mix in the series. Other artists who appear include Four Tet, Actress, John Talabot, Carl Craig, Will Saul, Maceo Plex, Maya Jane Coles and Nina Kraviz. Amusingly, they come with DJ stats including social media followers and longest track lengths.
The trading cards aren't available for individual purchase; rather, they come as an extra with orders over £20 ($39.22 CAD) from !K7's online store.
Resident Advisor points out that !K7 previously released a set of DJ trading cards way back in the '90s. Carl Craig was also featured in that run, along with Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, DJ Hell and others.
