Four Tet (aka Kieran Hebden) recently served up a collab with RocketNumberNine called "Roseland," but the electronic artist has now offered a purely solo joint called "For These Times," as well as a remix of Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" single.
Appearing on Nonplus Records' Think and Change compilation, "For These Times" is a slow builder that wraps a finger-flitting organ lick around chopped and clipped vocal samples before locking into a house-geared hi-hat groove. You can sample the track, which jumps into a busy military snare roll in its midsection, down below.
As for that JT redo, it subs out some of the old-school soul flavours for downtempo bass thuds and cascading vocal loops. You can also preview the clock-ticking club rework at the bottom of the page.
