Most people spend flights sleeping or watching lousy movies. Four Tet's Kieran Hebden, on the other hand, evidently makes music, since he just released a new song that he created while on an airplane.
The song is called "BACK2THESTART," and it's a sprawling, seven-and-a-half minute electronic groove. It sports minimal drum machine beats and looped, pitch-warped vocal samples. As it progresses, more layers get added and the energy lifts somewhat, but the arrangement is definitely more hypnotic than it is dynamic. A version of this track was previously included in a DJ mix.
Hebden tweeted the following explanation of its origins:
