Flowermouth

Flowermouth

BY Roman SokalPublished Sep 1, 2000

Originally released in 1994, Flowermouth was an etude on the idea of beauty and its translation into musical form. Six years later, the disc was given a sonic overhaul and a long overdue and proper release in North America, a territory that was vastly unaware of said beauty until now. Long notes from synthesisers are pranced upon by minute piano impressions, and it also features contributions by various well-known, textural-based guitarists such as Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Steve Jansen (Japan) and Lisa Gerard. The songs are partially drawn-out and repetitive in nature, but are done so to emulate the timeless-like quality when encountering a blissful situation, much like the germination process of a plant. A persuasive and bright shiny disc.
