Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Kevin Patrick Sullivan — a.k.a. Field Medic — has announced a new album, light is gone 2, out September 1 via Run for Cover Records

The forthcoming release will mark the follow-up to Grow Your Hair Long If You're Wanting to See Something That You Can Change, released less than a year ago, and is said to be a spiritual sequel to his debut album light is gone. The electronically focused album was recorded on Sullivan's home computer and mixed by former Death Cab for Cutie guitarist, producer Chris Walla (Tegan and Sara, the Decemberists).

"I've always loved trap music and new wave music," Sullivan said in a statement. "I used to try and incorporate those with keyboards and beats back in my lofi days, but now I feel like I've finally figured those elements out."

Along with the album announcement, he's released the earnest indie ballad "everything's been going so well." Listen to it below.

Following the release of the album, Field Medic will be going on tour this fall with support from two-time Exclaim! Staff Picks alum, Olivia Barton. The trek includes a lone Canadian stop in Vancouver on September 15. Check out the full itinerary below.
