With a broad frequency of sound and a spare approach to layering, Exos's sound fits well within the German label's sonic palette, at least superficially. Below its watertight surface, there is very little going on. The first seven tracks recycle the same patterns in the same tempo with very little in the way of relief from the thump. Chemically treated house fans may enjoy the calm homogeneity the way some kids need the same bedtime story every night, but those of us listening from a seated position will soon be yawning. The second-half of the disc is a little more promising, adding some needed down-tempo beats and esoteric atmospherics. The "less is enough credo" fully functions here, but less is "still too much" would sum up the disc overall.
