Espadrille

The new trio from Die Monster Die's Alice Cohen is a bad copy of everything that was only tenuously entertaining about girl-fronted alterna-pop bands of the early '90s, such as Belly and the Juliana Hatfield Three, but with a more pretentious and arty quality to it. Mind you, I guess part of that was DMD's schtick too. I find it difficult to sit through minutes of feedback if there is no payoff, and I won't do it for someone who is considered Eastern seaboard alterna-royalty either. I'd rather haul out the old Blake Babies, the real royalty, and listen to the stuff when Evan and Juliana were all fucked-up on recreational drugs. At least that stuff made sense.
