Christopher Shannon used to play in the Elwins while Nathan Vanderwielen was a member of Ruby Coast, but these days, the Ontario musicians collaborate as Bart. Their debut EP is called Bart by Bart, and it will be out on May 16.
The the four-track EP was produced and performed entirely by the duo of Shannon and Vanderwielen. Below, hear the song "The Wall," which mixes quirkily spiky indie rock instrumentation with bright psychedelic pop harmonies. The accompanying video features grainy, slow-motion head banging.

The band will make their live debut at Toronto's Holy Oak Cafe on May 16, and Montreal's Bantam Wing are also on the bill. While the studio incarnation of Bart is just a duo, the live lineup includes members of the Bicycles, Hooded Fang and Biblical.
