We've been hearing about the Roots' collaborative album with Elvis Costello for some time now, and we've finally got a taste of Wise Up Ghost with a lyric video for the song "Walk Us Uptown."
This dark, groove-oriented number features slinky rhythms and soulful blasts of horns and organ, while Costello signs a minor key melody in his signature brash sneer. The accompanying video finds the singer and Roots drummer Questlove sitting beside a record player as the vinyl plays, and we see the lyrics flash across the screen as pseudo paper cutouts display the words.
Wise Up Ghost is out on September 17 through Blue Note Records.
