Elephant Stone

'The Three Poisons' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 21, 2014

The first sound you'll hear on The Three Poisons is a sitar playing a bluesy riff. In other words, Elephant Stone are back. Before the album drops on August 26 via Hidden Pony Records (with a cassette through Burger Records), it's available to stream in full.

The album's genesis dates backs to the dawn of 2013, when a mysterious box of vinyl was left on frontman Rishi Dhir's brother-in-law's doorstep. The box included wax from the likes of Echo & the Bunnymen, Happy Mondays, New Order, the Stone Roses, Spacemen 3 and Ride, which helped to inspire the new tunes.

The results range for the bass-driven surge of "Knock You from Yr Mountain" and "Child of Nature (Om Namah Shivaya)" to the psychedelic swirl of "Three Poisons" to more brightly sunny numbers like "All Is Burning" and "Intermediate State."
