Edwyn Collins Details 'Understated'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 14, 2012

Edwyn Collins has been talking about his latest solo album, Understated, since fall of 2011, and now the Orange Juice icon has finally confirmed the details of the new collection. It will be out on March 25 in the UK via his own AED Records.

The 11-song collection was self-produced with studio assistance from returning collaborator Seb Lewsley. It features a batch of original tunes, plus a closing cover of Rod McKuen's "Love's Been Good to Me." Among the contributors are James Walbourne of the Pretenders, Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols, Barrie Cadogan of Primal Scream and more.

Watch an in-studio video of the recording sessions below the tracklist at the bottom of the page. Album cut "Down the Line" is also below.

There's currently no word as to when Understated will be available in North America. In the past, the UK date has preceded the North American release by several months, so hopefully that doesn't happen this time around.

In other news, if you were hoping to get the Edwyn Collins fan on your Christmas list a gift, you can purchase a pack of his own illustrated Christmas cards right here. Also, Collins is playing several UK dates in April. You can see all those over here.
