Some concepts are higher than others. New York super-group the Easy Star All Stars have set their sights on one of the most beloved pop albums of all time as the next target of their reggaefication. They scored critically and commercially in 2003 with Dub Side Of The Moon, their version of the Pink Floyd masterpiece. And Radiodread, from 2006, repeated the unlikely success with a startling revision of OK Computer. On April 14, they drop their most ambitious work to date: Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Can't wait to hear Sir Paul's review.
The album has a stellar guest list, which includes Steel Pulse, Matisyahu, Michael Rose of Black Uhuru fame, Ranking Roger and Sugar Minott. The first single is "With A Little Help From My Friends," as voiced by Luciano (who is in the news himself these days). A small clip of the song is posted on the Easy Star website, and reveals a more upbeat groove than the All Stars' previous records.
