Vancouver's East Van Summer Jam festival has just unveiled the lineup to its 2015 edition, confirming it will bring Ab-Soul, Kelela and Mayer Hawthorne out for the neighbourhood party.
The annual East Van Summer Jam (formerly the Boom Boom Block Party) takes place on July 4 at Strathcona Park, situated just outside of downtown Vancouver. This year they'll be mixing up the lineup to include out-of-town artists, as well as a selection of local performers to ring out "a celebration of East Vancouver community, music, and culture."
Headlining the event will be Compton Top Dawg rapper Ab-Soul, while performances will also be delivered by Michigan neo-soul singer Mayer Hawthorne, UK R&B twister Kelela, Esta and Illinois artist BJ the Chicago Kid. Vancouver soul unit the Boom Booms return to the fest, with other West Coast Canadian artists appearing including Kinnie Starr, Star Captains, and Chin Injeti and the Lifetimes. The all-day festival will also feature a soccer tournament and a BBQ, and is described as a "dog-friendly" event.
Tickets are set to go on sale this Wednesday (May 13) over here. Proceeds will go towards a series of charitable organizations, including the Music Tree, the Bavubuka foundation, Fresh Roots and Up with Hope. You'll find out more details over here.
