Edmonton's Duplekita recently showcased their unique, many-membered style in a performance video, but now they're getting ready to unleash their proper full-length debut. Dubbed The Sound of My Name, the album arrives July 29 via Kinsella Recordings, but you can get in on the action early via a full album stream here on Exclaim.ca.
Formed by Tim Batke (co-founder of Edmonton band Faunts), Duplekita kick things off with the lushly dense dance-pop groove of "Holiday." This sets a bright, upbeat tone, but things get a little stranger and colder with the computerized AutoTune of "Everywhere for You" and "Sons + Daughters." For this most part, however, these 10 tracks are warm layers of dreamy instrumentation and gradually unfurling, hypnotic rhythms.
