Duotang End 12-Year Hiatus with 'New Occupation' LP

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Sep 9, 2016

After going on hiatus in 2002, Canadian post-punk two-piece Duotang have finally announced their return with a new record in tow. Titled New Occupation, the album is set to arrive next month.

A press release claims the band "are not only back, but better than ever" on the 12-track release. New Occupation comes after a 12-year absence from recording, though Duotang have reunited for a handful of live performances since 2014. During an appearance at Edmonton's Up + Downtown Festival last fall, the duo were praised for making their set feel like "less of a reunion and more of a continuation."

Duotang originally formed in the summer of 1995, signing to Vancouver label Mint Records the following year. With their albums topping college radio charts across Canada, the band toured their home country as well as the United States and Europe, and even landing on the cover of Exclaim! back in 2002.

New Occupation arrives October 14 through Stomp Records. Read through the tracklist and tour dates below, then hit play to hear the brand new lead single "Karma Needs to Come Around" in the player below.
