Drug Score

VIDEO GAME

CNN think it's clever to subhead their article about the videogame Narc as "a new low” - after all, it is the first game where you can get high - but that's just the controversy Midway Games were hoping for. Revamping the arcade classic for the post-Grand Theft Auto era, Narc allows the undercover cop characters to sample the merchandise as a power-up. Smoking pot sends the game into "weed-time,” meth makes you run real fastecstasy makes people stop attacking you and acid, well, I haven't quite sussed out what acid does. But it's got real trippy visuals, man. It's already been banned in Australia and governor of Illinois is using it as an excuse to pass the Safe Games Act, which is reason enough to score it before The Man kills your buzz. It's available for the price of two dime bags, but they didn't scrimp on the voice cast (Michael Madsen, Ron Perlman) or soundtrack, which assembles the best druggie songs out there. Joshua Ostroff
