Montreal's Dr. Noh combines interesting jazz experiments with a drum & bass energy. All three tracks on this EP follow a pattern of introducing a quiet, chilled-out, atmospheric keyboard ambience, which is then sparked with fresh energy by frenetic new sounds produced by bass, guitars and samples. "Pave the Children" fuses mellow, sunny keyboards with a drum & bass rhythm and flow then proceeds to culminate on an even funkier level with a diving bass groove that serves as the driving force, holding forth for a multi-instrument jam-fest without ever losing that calmly happy keyboard in the background. Definitely worth a listen, or more, Dr. Noh are about creating dynamic new journeys that aren't so much about the destination as the interesting and quirky detours that can be discovered along the way.
