House Cafe Paris Vol 1 journeys through a Parisian parade of sunny and soulful club cuts from one of the capitals of house. Mixed by DJ Mike, Vol. 1 has a bubbly feel that makes for light and funky Euro-house that, at times, is almost too groovy for its own good. There is a lack of anything deep, tribal or much less sugary than the café au lait-happy groove DJ Mike patriotically pumps out. Still, the mix is sweet and does thump within its own limitations, making for a good showcase of light club-style French electronica.
