You don't realise how jaded you are until something comes along and kicks your ass. Formed in 1998, these three girls and one guy have accomplished something good on this 14-song debut. It's got all the old style and desperate hardcore punk energy, but still manages to be catchy. The frequent melodies, bolstered by the vitriolic, almost rock'n'roll voice of Australian ex-pat Brody Armstrong is what sets this apart. The songs are filled with typical punk rock anger and the cover they do of Patti Smith's "Ask The Angels" does it justice. The Distillers will rile up bored teenagers everywhere with this awesome record.
