Though Dâm-Funk's new Invite the Light album official lands by the end of the workweek, the West Coast synth-wriggler is giving us some smooth and spectacular sounds ahead of time. Mind you, they land in the form of an electro-spiked remix for Disclosure's "Holding On" single.
As you might expect of a Dâm-Funk-helmed revamp, the remix scrubs some of the house pop elements out of the original in favour of an '80s-minded arrangement. As such, the twitchy bass and drum ticks are outshined by velvet washes of funk, Parliament-approved grooves and more. Guest vocalist Gregory Porter's vocals land extra soulful, no matter the sonic backdrop.
You'll find the remix for Disclosure's Caracal track down below, while the UK duo's album lands September 25 through PMR/Island.
Dâm-Funk's own LP drops this Friday (September 4) via Stones Throw.
