Die Mannequin

Danceland

Despite a bout of adversity, Toronto, ON hard rockers Die Mannequin have picked themselves up off the floor and presented us with a little teaser. Danceland is a nine-song EP featuring B-sides, re-releases and live tracks before their full-length, by way of their new home, eOne. The final three tracks ("Suffer," "The 'Other' Other Tiffany" and "Just Go Away") were recorded during the shooting of Bruce McDonald's Hard Core Logo 2, starring frontwoman Care Failure (this isn't, however, the official soundtrack). According to a press release, McDonald had provided the band with the opportunity to record these songs during film production with legendary Canadian producer Peter Moore (Neil Young, Cowboy Junkies). New tracks "Away," "Die Snitch Die" and "Children with Machetes" don't veer too far away from 2009's Fino + Bleed. Failure spits out lyrics with beautiful, biting vengeance over punk-infused, but radio-friendly rock'n'roll. Although the attempt at a more progressive path is appreciated, Die Mannequin continue to do what they do best: unique, hook-heavy rock'n'roll with a driving rhythm.
