After all these years, we've finally got ourselves an origin story for Die Antwoord singer Yolandi Visser's signature, asymmetrical hairstyle. The big story behind her zef bang job arrives via a video for the band's new "Banana Brain" single.
Once upon a time, it would seem, Visser dropped a ton of sleeping pills into her parents' tea, letting her escape for a wild night out with gun-toting, whip-steering bad boy Ninja. They head out to a party, enjoy a tab or two of some Dole-grade mind expanders, and then out come the scissors.
It beats a simple salon makeover, and you can see how it all happened down below.
"Banana Brain" is off of Die Antwoord's forthcoming Mount Ninji & Da Nice Time Kid, which sees release September 16 via Zef Records/Sony. The duo just wrapped a leg of European dates, but will be back out on the road in North America by the end of September. You'll find the show info over here.
